Hi, I’m Ilze!
I am a meditation teacher, a groove dance facilitator and a holistic health advocate.
I began my career studying dentistry in Riga, followed by a decade of working in a fast-paced clinic as a dentist. After years of working in the field, it eventually became clear that this path wasn’t fulfilling enough for my soul. I felt that something was still missing in my life because I have always had a creative side—a side that longed to help people through creativity, joy, and playfulness.
You see, I’ve always been a sensitive child—a “free spirit,” a “wildflower”—someone who advocates for love, beauty, and peace. However, I chose to follow in my mother’s footsteps, as she wanted the best for me—stability, safety, and independence. While I am deeply grateful to my parents and don’t regret my choices, I knew there was more to my path, and I had to find it.
I love the quote by Robin Sharma: "My scars have shown me strength.
My pain has taught me true power. What could have broken me has
built me."
So why do I mention this quote? Because my wounds led me to my passion, to my soul’s path—inner work through meditation, conscious movement, and dance.
As a teenager, I was bullied because of my body shape, which led to a low self-esteem. I realized just how out of balance my relationship with myself and my body was, and how I had been looking externally for happiness, acceptance, and approval. I was determined to heal myself naturally and regain my health, confidence, and life. I studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and became a certified holistic health coach. Around that time, I also stumbled across a Groove dance class. I felt so happy and fulfilled after just one hour of that class that I was deeply inspired to become a facilitator myself. In 2017, I took the training in Berlin.
Currently, I am teaching Groove to my local community at my studio, Studiotobe, which I opened in 2023.
I am deeply passionate about dance. For me, dance is my medicine of choice. When I feel sad or stuck, when I need an energy boost, dance enables me to find myself and lose myself at the same time. It’s a form of meditation. My joy and pleasure come from creating classes and sharing dance experiences with everyone who wishes to dance and connect with themselves and others through movement.
Working on our mindset and thoughts is incredibly important—perhaps the most important thing. “What you believe, you attract.” Meditation and mindfulness are beautiful tools to refocus, restart, and reset every cell in our bodies. I want to show and teach people that we all can meditate. I know this because I struggled too, before I found a meditation practice that resonated with me. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to meditation! Everything is connected. It’s about treating the whole mind, body, and spirit as one.
I am here to hold and share the tools that helped me. But remember, you are the one who holds the power to choose and allow yourself to heal.
